BESIDES WHAT WAS SAID IN THE PREVIOUS ARTICLE [0002] ABOUT UA NOT BEING PREPARED FOR THE INVASION THERE WAS A BUNCH OF STUFF THAT COULD HAVE BEEN DONE IN THE LAST FEW DAYS BEFORE THE INVASION HAPPENED THAT MAY HAVE MOSTLY STOPPED THE INVASION!
It is more than a little scary for me to talk about the few steps that could have been taken to completely prevent the invasion of southern Ukraine, [ as well as some other parts of Ukraine ]. In the end it may be one of the worst steps of self-defense that WAS NOT taken in the history of all wars. To get right to the point Ukraine should have destroyed all the entry points from Crimea into southern Ukraine as soon as they saw such a huge army amassing in Crimea and elsewhere.
Just think about it this way; during the war while there are artillery borages happening and other types of stuff being fired at you it is really hard to conduct a firing mission of any type but before the war when there is no firing happening it is really easy to get somewhere and just shoot a bunch of ammo at something. And this is exactly what Ukraine should have done right when they knew that Russia had already gathered a large force. They should have went right to the bridges that link Crimea into Kherson Oblast and just dropped most of what was there leaving only tiny ways to travel north and eventually destroying even those ways during the beginning of the invasion.
This is scary for me to talk about because of how easily the whole entire southern invasion could have been blocked if it was done. There would be almost no Russian presence in south Ukraine right now if those few roads that link Kherson Oblast to Crimea were destroyed. As a matter of fact I doubt that the invasion would have started if those roads were destroyed.
